EXTREME WEATHER Extreme weather is reducing across the world We often hear that extreme weather is increasing and that this is being caused by our greenhouse gas emissions. But that is wrong. As the world gradually warms, you would expect extreme weather to decrease, not increase. After all, temperatures are forecast to rise most in high latitudes, thereby reducing the temperature difference between the Arctic and more temperate regions. Since it is this temperature difference that drives weather, a warming world is a more tranquil world. Indeed, the best database of its kind in the world, the extreme weather records for American states maintained by the American government, shows that most records were set in the first half of the 20th century, not recently. ​ ​

TERRY DUNLEAVY MBE, JP In Memory of Terry Dunleavy ​ ​ In April 2006, Terry Dunleavy and a group of fellow New Zealanders created the New Zealand Climate Science Coalition (NZCSC) to correct much of the misleading information being disseminated about climate change and man-made global warming. In response to strong international support for the NZCSC’s science-based approach to the debate, and in preparation for the UN Bali climate conference in 2007, Mr. Dunleavy, working with Bryan Leyland and interested citizens from other countries, created the International Climate Science Coalition (ICSC). ​ Mr. Dunleavy remained very active in the climate change debate, working closely with the ICSC and NZCSC, maintaining the NZCSC Web site, speaking to public gatherings (view a short excerpt of the presentation Mr. Dunleavy gave in May 2009 in New York City) and writing popular level articles about the issue (e.g. "Let's use cooling off period to check our facts ," New Zealand Herald, May 6, 2008). ​ From 1998 to 2003, Mr. Dunleavy was national co-ordinator of Bluegreens , now the NZ National Party’s advisory group on environmental issues. He was a former journalist and commercial printer, and had been involved in the NZ wine industry for many years, receiving the MBE honor in 1990 for services to the wine industry and the community. Between 1976 and 1991, Mr. Dunleavy was the inaugural CEO of the Wine Institute of New Zealand and had been the editor of the magazine, “New Zealand WineGrower ”, since 1997. POLAR BEARS Polar Bears are thriving and are in no way endangered ​ That is the conclusion of Victoria, British Columbia-based zoologist Dr. Susan Crockford as detailed in her latest STATE OF THE POLAR BEAR REPORT 2020 which can be seen here . Here are the key take-aways concerning polar bears: Climate activists are wrong to say that the polar bear is at risk due to climate change. The bears are generally healthy throughout their range and reproducing well. Polar bears number about 30,000 today, three times as many as in the 1960s. The polar bear was the first species to be designated at risk, not because of real world observations, but because of theoretical model forecasts of the future. Polar bear biologists originally forecast that, if sea ice retreated to the level it is at today, only 1/3 of the population would remain. Clearly, their models do not work. In the early years of the 21st century, polar bears were officially categorized as ‘threatened’ with extinction. This change in status was not driven by falls in the number of polar bears by an assumption that reductions in sea ice, caused by global warming, would harm them in the future. With climate change not a threat to them and the overhunting problem solved, the polar bear is an environmental success story! ​

He has been responsible for the design of many small hydropower schemes and he has acted as an expert witness for many people opposing wind farms in New Zealand. He also has experience in virtually every other form of power generation–renewable and otherwise–apart from nuclear power. He is a member of the Expert Advisory Group for the world's largest tidal power scheme at Kalpasar in India. The original scheme provided for 5800 MW.
